Tooth-Colored Fillings, Onlays & Inlays

We only use tooth-colored fillings made out of durable composite material. This type of filling not only looks more attractive but is also more compatible. Amalgam fillings stick to teeth and healthy tooth structure has to be usually removed to keep a silver filling in place. Composites permit your dentist to remove only the decayed area of your tooth. Unlike silver fillings, composite bonding expands just like your teeth and are much less likely to cause cracks in your tooth. Composites bond directly to the tooth providing support.

Inlays and onlays are used to restore a broken tooth or may replace an existing large filling. They are used when the damage is not severe enough to require a crown. They are an excellent alternative to large fillings because they are more durable. Inlays and onlays are made out of porcelain; inlays are designed for tooth damage affecting the indented portion of the top of the tooth and onlays are for more extensive damage.
