suresmile logoAre you looking for an alternative to metal braces for your orthodontic needs? Would you like a straighter smile in under a year?

Dr. Chibb provides SureSmile® clear aligners in our Baltimore area dental office to treat mild to moderate orthodontic concerns. SureSmile makes it easy to create a smile that is healthier with teeth that are aligned properly and support a secure bite. With SureSmile, patients are able to reposition their teeth in less time when compared to other leading clear aligners and traditional braces.

SureSmile®: how does it work?

SureSmile is a clear aligner system that uses CAD/CAM technology to create your custom treatment plan. Dr. Chibb will use a handheld digital scanner to take digital impressions of your teeth. This is an easy and painless process. We use high-resolution imagery to evaluate tooth position and design your unique set of aligners.

The unique dental plastic material makes the aligners smooth to the touch, so there is minimal or no irritation of the gums. The material is strong enough to reposition the teeth with gentle pressure. Changing aligners every couple of weeks, according to your specific schedule, will slowly move the teeth and change the shape and appearance of your smile. SureSmile uses fewer aligners than other clear aligner systems and typically enables patients to complete treatment in less time, often under a year.

Dr. Chibb will place your first set of aligners and discuss your at-home schedule for changing them. There will be periodic office visits to check your progress.

SureSmile® FAQs

Is SureSmile right for me?

SureSmile is best for patients with mild to moderate orthodontic needs and cosmetic concerns due to crooked teeth. Dr. Chibb will evaluate the condition of your smile before recommending SureSmile clear aligners as a treatment option.

Are SureSmile aligners removable for eating?

Yes, your aligners are removable for eating, drinking, and daily oral hygiene. You should remove your SureSmile aligners for all of these activities to avoid damaging the aligners and to keep your teeth healthy and clean. Hot liquids such as coffee or tea can damage the aligners and impact your treatment.

Will I need to wear a retainer after treatment with SureSmile?

Yes, wear your retainer daily to maintain your results. Most patients wear their retainer while sleeping as well.

What is the difference between SureSmile aligners and Invisalign?

In both basic and complex cases, SureSmile works well to align teeth with ease. For more difficult instances, such as those with large tooth gaps or a significant overbite, SureSmile is more effective and faster than Invisalign. SureSmile develops unique algorithms and digital images of your teeth to create an individual, one-of-a-kind treatment customized for you.

How often should I clean my SureSmile aligners?

To clean your aligners, soak them in a denture cleanser or SureSmile cleaner at least once a day. This will help keep your aligners fresh and clean.

How long does it take for SureSmile to work?

In comparison to traditional braces, SureSmile reduces treatment time by 40%. A two-year treatment with traditional orthodontics can be complete in as little as a year and a half with SureSmile.

Does SureSmile hurt?

SureSmile braces are less painful than other types of orthodontics. This is largely because it does not require frequent wire tightening, rubber bands, or other products.

Can SureSmile fix overbite?

SureSmile is a great method for correcting an overbite. SureSmile® is best at helping to repair crowded teeth, overbites, underbites, and gapped teeth.
