A beautiful smile is more than just straight, white teeth. It’s about proportion, symmetry, and how your new smile functions with your natural bite. That’s why at Cosmetic & Advanced Dentistry, porcelain veneers are never just a cosmetic procedure. Our veneers are a collaboration between artistry and structural expertise.
Dr. Ed Lazer is a nationally recognized cosmetic dentist trained at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute (LVI). With over 1,000 veneers placed, he is one of the pioneers in porcelain veneer dentistry. When underlying bite issues could impact the longevity of your new smile, Dr. Andrey Doroshenko, our fellowship-trained prosthodontist, evaluates your jaw function and ensures your veneers are built on a stable foundation. Together, they bring decades of experience and an artist’s eye to every veneer case.
Our Veneer Options: Traditional & Prepless
Dr. Lazer and Dr. Doroshenko offer two main types of veneers, depending on your unique dental health needs and cosmetic goals:
- Prepless Veneers: As the name suggests, this type of veneer requires minimal to no tooth preparation and is a reversible restoration. Prepless veneers preserve your natural tooth structure while giving you the beautiful smile you desire. They’ve become a sought-after option for patients seeking enhancement without permanent alteration.
- Traditional Porcelain Veneers: Made from high-quality, medical-grade dental porcelain, traditional veneers are the most durable and lifelike option. They are a permanent restoration because a small amount of natural tooth structure is removed to ensure a seamless fit. Traditional veneers offer the highest level of customization for shape, color, and translucency.
The first step is a consultation with Dr. Lazer and Dr. Doroshenko to evaluate your needs and goals. Both options are color-matched and custom-made to enhance your smile and overall appearance.
What Are Traditional Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin layers of medical-grade ceramic that bond to the front surfaces of your teeth. They look and feel like natural enamel, resist stains, and offer exceptional durability.
Our dental team uses porcelain veneers to address:
- Aging teeth that have worn down
- Broken or chipped teeth
- Stained, discolored, or yellowed teeth that don’t respond to whitening
- Small gaps between teeth
- Misshapen or crooked teeth
- Stained, unsightly, or washed-out fillings
At our Owings Mills dental office, we recommend porcelain veneers for patients who want a long-lasting solution to cosmetic concerns. Because a small amount of natural tooth structure is removed to accommodate the veneer, the restoration is permanent. You must be ready to embrace your new smile, and we’re confident you will be.
Porcelain Veneers in Owings Mills: Before & After
Porcelain veneers can transform your smile, restoring your health and confidence. Dr. Ed Lazer is a Baltimore dentist skilled in cosmetic dental services and has completed over 1,000 dental veneer cases. He is one of the pioneers in the use of porcelain veneers.
Dr. Lazer received advanced training from the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), the nation’s top postgraduate teaching center in cosmetic dentistry. His mentors include some of the world’s leading cosmetic dentists.
But artistry alone isn’t enough. A beautiful smile must also function properly. That’s where Dr. Doroshenko’s expertise matters. As a prosthodontist, he evaluates your bite dynamics to ensure your new veneers won’t be subjected to forces that could cause premature wear, chipping, or failure. When necessary, he coordinates bite adjustments or other treatments to create a stable foundation for your cosmetic results.
Producing a perfect smile is an art and a science. Dr. Lazer treats each person as an individual, using his experience to design your porcelain veneers to your desired shape, color, size, and alignment. Dr. Doroshenko ensures that your bite supports your new smile for the long term.
At your routine dental appointments, we will monitor the condition of your new veneers and address any dental issues to ensure your new smile lasts.

Porcelain Veneers FAQs
Learn more about veneers with answers to these common questions.
Can I still get tooth cavities with porcelain veneers?
Even with veneers, there is always a chance of getting cavities. A veneer covers only the front surface of your tooth, not the entire tooth. Practice excellent oral hygiene, floss, and visit the dentist regularly to protect yourself from cavities.
Do porcelain veneers stain?
Porcelain veneers are highly stain-resistant and will not yellow over time. However, your natural teeth can still stain. If you’re considering whitening, we recommend whitening before your veneers are placed so we can match your new veneers to your desired shade.
Will dental insurance cover veneers?
Dental insurance typically does not cover porcelain veneers for cosmetic reasons. However, insurance may cover a portion if a veneer is placed to repair a broken, infected, or chipped tooth. We also provide affordable financing options and payment plans through CareCredit and other lenders.
Do veneers break easily?
Porcelain veneers are strong, but they can break under extreme pressure. Avoid using your teeth to open packages, chewing ice, or biting directly into very hard foods. Chew with your back teeth, and your veneers will last.
How long do porcelain veneers last?
Porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 30 years or longer with proper care. Their longevity depends on your oral hygiene, bite dynamics, and habits. Regular dental visits allow us to monitor your veneers and ensure they remain in excellent condition.
Can you drink coffee with porcelain veneers?
Veneers themselves are stain-resistant, but your natural teeth are not. Excessive coffee consumption can stain the natural teeth around your veneers, creating a color mismatch. If you enjoy coffee, maintain regular cleanings and consider touch-up whitening for your natural teeth as needed.
