Porcelain Veneers FAQs
Can I still get tooth cavities with porcelain veneers?
There is always a chance of cavities developing on tooth enamel, whether covered by veneers or not. A veneer can protect the tooth enamel that it is covering, but it is only as effective as the way you take care of your teeth. Practice excellent oral hygiene, floss, and visit the dentist regularly to protect yourself from cavities.
Do porcelain veneers stain?
No. Porcelain veneers do not stain or get discolored. Dental porcelain is a stain-resistant material. You will not have to worry about your veneer getting yellow and standing out from your other teeth. They can’t be whitened either.
Are porcelain veneers covered by dental insurance?
Veneers are not covered by dental insurance if used for strictly cosmetic reasons. Although, If we are placing a veneer to repair a broken, infected, or chipped tooth, then they may be partially covered by dental insurance. Discuss the procedure with your dentist and insurance provider.
Do porcelain veneers break easily?
Porcelain veneers are strong like natural teeth, however they can break under pressure. Breaks, chips, and cracks are not very common, however they can occur.
How long do porcelain veneers last?
Porcelain veneers are strong and durable, lasting anywhere from 10 to 30 years. Patients should be sure to take good care of their veneers because they can become damaged with extreme pressure.
Can you drink coffee with porcelain veneers?
We advise patients with porcelain veneers to avoid coffee because of its staining properties. Veneers are made to be stain resistant, however your natural teeth are not. Too much coffee can stain your teeth, leaving your veneers brighter than your smile.
