Cosmetic dentures can improve the appearance of your smile and boost your confidence. A denture is a removable oral appliance that replaces missing teeth and helps maintain facial structure alignment. Dentures can be made of acrylic, plastic, or metal.
There are a few different ways you can get cosmetic dentures. You can buy them from an online retailer, or you can see your dentist about getting a custom-made pair. Both methods replace missing teeth, but the dental route offers more customization and better long-term oral health.
Millions of people rely on dentures to lead normal, healthy lives after tooth loss. Dr. Ed Lazer and Dr. Andrey Doroshenko are leading restorative and cosmetic dentists serving patients in Towson, MD.
At our dental office, we offer custom and modern cosmetic dentures. These dentures look and feel like real teeth. They not only replace teeth but also deliver superior aesthetic results. Types of Cosmetic Dentures
Cosmetic dentures are dentures used to improve the appearance of missing teeth. We offer various types of cosmetic dentures for our patients. The right type depends on your unique needs, preferences, and budget.
Full Dentures
Dentists have relied on full dentures for many years following complete tooth loss. However, advances in dental technology have made full dentures in Baltimore more natural-looking. They can replace an entire row of teeth in the top and/or bottom jaw.
The fake teeth fuse to a base that we color-match to your gum tissue, so they blend in naturally. You must remove them daily for special care and to give your gums a rest from holding them in place.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures only replace some missing teeth in a row. But they, too, will blend in very well with the rest of your smile. Towson, MD-area dentists Dr. Lazer and Dr. Doroshenko will ensure the color of the fake teeth matches your remaining teeth.
The fake teeth on a partial denture are supported by a plastic or metal base. We design them to stay in place with clasps and rest them on the remaining teeth.
Implant-Secured Dentures
Cosmetic & Advanced Dentistry offers dentures secured to dental implants, the most advanced teeth-replacement option available. We secure several implants in the jawbone to create a strong base that holds the fixture.
They also act as missing tooth roots. This helps prevent bone loss in the jaw, a common side effect of other tooth replacement options. However, denture implants are more costly and require several months to complete treatment.
Immediate Dentures
Dr. Lazer and Dr. Doroshenko will work together to create a treatment plan that lets you have your dentures placed immediately. First, we will determine if you require tooth extractions.
If so, we will extract damaged teeth first, then immediately place the dental implants in your jaw. Our dentists will fit you for a denture right after the surgical placement.
After about six months, we will fit and attach a new, modern cosmetic denture.

Cosmetic Dentures FAQs
How many hours a day should I wear my dentures?
If you wear removable dentures, you will need to remove them at night to give your gums a rest. We suggest keeping them out for about six to eight hours a day. You do not need to remove permanent dentures.
How long will it take to get used to my dentures?
Every patient will have a different experience with their dentures. If you are getting a full or partial set of traditional removable dentures, it can take 2 to 10 months to adjust. Your gums will be sore for the first couple of days, and you may need to work up to wearing them all day.
Do you have to go without teeth while waiting for dentures?
No. You can get immediate dentures, which we place right after your teeth are extracted. These temporary dentures help you chew and smile while your permanent dentures are being made. However, immediate dentures may need adjustments as your gums heal and shrink.
Are there any foods I should avoid with dentures?
Yes, you should avoid certain foods once you have dentures. Sticky foods like gum or caramel can pull at your dentures. Hard foods like nuts or crunchy snacks might crack or dislodge them. Tough meats and foods with small seeds can also be hard to chew and may get trapped under your dentures. This can cause discomfort.
How painful is getting full dentures?
Getting full dentures isn’t usually painful, but you may feel some discomfort as you adjust to them. After extractions, you may experience some soreness as your gums heal. Once we place dentures, getting used to wearing and eating with them might take a few weeks. Over-the-counter pain relievers and our adjustments can help manage any discomfort.
How long do immediate dentures stay in?
You typically wear immediate dentures for the first 24 hours after placement without removing them. After that, we’ll guide you on when and how often to remove them for cleaning. They’re meant to be worn during the healing process, but your gums will change over time. Dentures may need adjustments or replacement with permanent ones after a few months.

The Power of Integration
Many dental practices refer patients out for the surgical phase of denture treatment. You might see one dentist for extractions, another for implant placement, and a third for the final restoration. This fragmented approach can lead to miscommunication, delays, and results that fall short of your expectations.
We do dentistry differently. Dr. Lazer and Dr. Doroshenko work as a single, coordinated team. From your first consultation, both doctors evaluate your case together. We visualize the aesthetic outcome before any surgical work begins. When Dr. Doroshenko places an implant, he knows exactly how Dr. Lazer will build the final restoration.
The Benefits of a Coordinated Approach
- A Single Vision for Your Smile: When both doctors are involved from the start, your treatment plan is unified. There are no competing priorities. The surgical plan supports the cosmetic goal, and the cosmetic goal is built on a functional foundation. You get a smile that works beautifully and looks natural.
- No Referrals, No Handoffs: You won’t be sent to unfamiliar offices or have to repeat your story to new faces. Both doctors practice at the same location. Your care is seamless from start to finish. This continuity reduces stress, saves time, and ensures that critical details are never lost in transition.
- Cosmetic Dentures That Look and Feel Natural: Dr. Lazer is a nationally recognized cosmetic dentist with advanced training at the Las Vegas Institute (LVI). He brings an artistic eye to every case, ensuring your dentures are crafted with the proportion, symmetry, and natural translucency that distinguishes exceptional cosmetic work. Dr. Doroshenko, a fellowship-trained prosthodontist, ensures a flawless structural foundation so your restorations are stable, functional, and built to last.
